Tengizchevroil is a leading company that produces oil, gas and associated products that fuels the modern economy. Our history is closely interlinked with the rise of an independent Kazakhstan.
TCO maintains a leading position in the field of industrial safety in terms of such standard indicators as lost working days incidents and the rate of reported incidents.
TCO continues to achieve industry-leading safety results in standard industrial safety measurements such as Serious Incidents and Total Recordable Incidents.
The Contractor Health, Environment and Safety Management Process establishes clear accountabilities, ensures active engagement of contractors, and provides a consistent CHESM program to eliminate health, safety and environment (HSE) incidents and injuries involving contractors.
The requirements and activities included in CHESM process are focused on defining TCO expectations regarding contractor HSE performance, the qualification of contractors and the monitoring of contractor performance against expectations.
Contractors involved in activities presenting risks to workforce and process safety are subject to CHESM Qualification to evaluate HSE Management Systems and ensure adequate safeguards are in place and functioning before starting work at TCO Facilities.
TCO's work is guided by two key principles: do it safely or not at all and there is always time to do it right. Every employee of TCO and its Business Partner companies is responsible for making sure that work can be safely started. Each person has the right to temporarily suspend or completely stop any work if unsafe behavior or conditions are observed. The TCO Safe Work Practices Management Group, together with other teams, ensure that Occupational Safety and Health (OSH) guidelines and procedures are continuously implemented and maintained.
On the eve of the New Year, two specialized road equipment were purchased and donated as it was requested by the Akimat of Zhylyoi district: “SDLG” grader and “KADEME” sweeper, as well as the minibus to Family Support Center.
At the solemn ceremony of handing the equipment, Deputy Akim of Zhylyoi district Gulnafis Aishuakova noted: “These machines will be of great help for utility services of Zhylyoi district. In winter, timely road cleaning plays a key role in ensuring safety and comfort of the residents. We appreciate TCO for its continued support and attention to the communities of the district. Such cooperation contributes to improvement of quality of life and development of local infrastructure”.
The problem of maintaining road infrastructure has always been relevant for areas with harsh climatic conditions, such as Zhylyoi district. In summer, dust and dirt create inconveniences for pedestrians and drivers, and in winter, snowfalls often lead to formation of ice and traffic challenges. The donated machines will help to address the above. “SDLG” grader will be used for leveling road surface, preparing roads for repair works, as well as cleaning in winter period. “KADEME” sweeper will become an indispensable assistant for cleaning sidewalks and roads, allowing utilities to quickly solve cleaning issues.
In addition, one of TCO's long-term business partners donated a new minibus to the Family Support Center in the city of Kulsary. The vehicle will help to improve working conditions of the center and provide better assistance to families in need of support.
Tengizchevroil itself purchased a burn bed for the Central District Hospital in Kulsary, which will become an important element in treatment of patients with severe burns. The bed is designed to provide high-quality medical care to patients with burns, helping to reduce pain, minimize risk of complications and speed up the recovery process.
Last year, TCO provided financial sponsorship to Atyrau Oblast for a total amount of over $2.5 million. In addition, as part of the sponsorship, including Kulsary, three invataxis, six ambulances and four units of special equipment for smooth operation of housing and utility services were handed over to Zhylyoi district. And the other day in “Bereke” micro district of Kulsary, a new school #13 was opened which was built as part of Egilik voluntary social infrastructure program.
