The requirements and activities included in CHESM process are focused on defining TCO expectations regarding contractor HSE performance, the qualification of contractors and the monitoring of contractor performance against expectations.
Contractors involved in activities presenting risks to workforce and process safety are subject to CHESM Qualification to evaluate HSE Management Systems and ensure adequate safeguards are in place and functioning before starting work at TCO Facilities.

Every employee of TCO and its Business Partner companies is responsible for making sure that work can be safely started. Each person has the right to temporarily suspend or completely stop any work if unsafe behavior or conditions are observed. The TCO Safe Work Practices Management Group, together with other teams, ensure that Occupational Safety and Health (OSH) guidelines and procedures are continuously implemented and maintained.
In anticipation of Sports Day, a new Health and Fitness Center (HFC) was officially opened in Zhanatalap village of Atyrau city as part of Egilik voluntary social infrastructure program of Tengizchevroil LLP (TCO).
HFC construction commenced in January 2024. The two-story facility is designed to host up to 160 people at a time. The Center features separate gyms for men and women, as well as spacious, fully equipped areas for basketball, volleyball, wrestling, and boxing. In addition, particular focus was given to the surrounding territory – a football field, a running track, a long jump field, as well as separate volleyball and basketball courts were constructed, and an outdoor gym area was equipped. So, the community of Zhanatalap can engage in outdoor sports during summer.
"As a socially responsible company, Tengizchevroil continues to support infrastructure development in Atyrau Oblast as part of its voluntary Egilik program. We believe that a healthy lifestyle and a healthy nation are the future of Kazakhstan. As Zhanatalap residents pointed out, kids used to go to nearby villages to play sports. "The new Fitness Center undoubtedly opens up new opportunities for local athletes. Previously, children had to travel by public transport in bad weather to neighboring villages, and their parents were very worried," said Adilet Baimukhanov, Zhanatalap village resident.
It is worth noting that the Health and Fitness Center was built in accordance with current requirements and is fully accessible to people with limited mobility. The building is equipped with ramps, an elevator, tactile tiles, and special rooms for people with disabilities.
As part of the Egilik voluntary social infrastructure program, 5 sports facilities were built, including health and fitness centers in Akkiiztogai, Shokpartogai, Zhana Karaton, and Maikomgen in the Zhylyoi region, as well as 3,000-seat central stadium in Kulsary. TCO allocates annually $25 million for construction of schools, kindergartens, hospitals, and other socially significant facilities in Atyrau Oblast.
