14 social projects have been completed with financial support of TCO in 2021

December 24, 2021, ATYRAU – Tengizchevroil LLP (TCO) summed up results of Community Investment Program (CIP) for 2021. Together with local and republican NGOs, 14 projects were implemented aimed at developing and improving quality of healthcare, education, social entrepreneurship, and infrastructure of Atyrau Oblast.

Cooperation between the RoK Government, NGOs and business to improve quality and accessibility of medical, educational services and development of social entrepreneurship allowed to achieve synergy and maximum efficiency. The NGOs traditionally reported and discussed the annual results in front of the local residents, government agencies and TCO workforce at the Townhall, which also could be watched online on the official web page.

 

According to TCO Policy, Government and Public Affairs General Manager, Rzabek Artygaliev: “TCO’s long-term partner “Yntymak” executed 33 mini-projects this year, such as English language clubs, guest lectures, distribution of seedlings and others. Thus, 14 projects sponsored by TCO contributed to implementation of over 180 mini-projects, which benefited more than 400,000 residents of Kazakhstan.” Hence, within the framework of “Public spaces” project of Eurasia Foundation of Central Asia, residents of villages implemented 45 mini-projects, which included the construction of playgrounds and sports grounds, parks, improvement of school territories, the organization of leisure places and classrooms for the development of creative abilities, and much more.

It should be highlighted that the scope completed by the NGO was highly appreciated by the republican civil society. Thus, within framework of the X Civil Forum, the Academician Mr. Kabdolov Foundation was awarded a diploma on behalf of the RoK Minister of Information and Public Development Aida Balayeva for achievements in education, science, information, physical culture and sports. The foundation named after Academician Z.Kabdolov helps the Internet audience in learning Kazakh language online. In addition, Social Fund “Bolashak K” received a diploma in a nomination called “Protection of citizens health, promotion of a healthy lifestyle”. The foundation is engaged in training, retraining and advanced training of rehabilitologists. The head of the NGO “Biz de adambyz” Gulnaz Kosmurziyeva was awarded a state award “Shapagat”. Thanks to trainings organized by the NGO, three residents of Atyrau became candidates for the Paralympic national team of Kazakhstan.

 

TCO Community Investment Program was launched in 2010. As of 2021 year-end, 94 social projects totaling about $11.1 million have been implemented jointly with local and republican NGOs.

In addition to financing social projects, TCO provided direct support to Atyrau Oblast community in 2021. The company purchased 34 refrigeration and freezing units for storing vaccines, 56 oxygen concentrators, PPE, medical equipment and 20 ventilators. TCO took part in financing the expansion of medical opportunities by inviting highly qualified doctors from Georgia to Atyrau. In total, TCO has allocated over $18 million to the healthcare needs of Atyrau Oblast in 2021 as part of the response to COVID-19.

Tengizchevroil LLP is a Kazakhstani partnership that develops, produces and markets crude oil, LPG, dry gas and sulfur. TCO conducts its operations in accordance with world-class safety and environmental standards. In April 1993, Tengizchevroil was formed between the Republic of Kazakhstan and Chevron Corporation. Current partners are: Chevron, 50 percent; KazMunaiGas NC JSC, 20 percent; ExxonMobil Kazakhstan Ventures Inc., 25 percent and LukArco, 5 percent.
