The long–awaited opening of the new building of one of the oldest schools in the city - school #1 named after M. Zhumabayev took place in Atyrau. The school was built as part of TCO’s Egilik voluntary social infrastructure program and the new building meets all the requirements of modern education.
“This is a long-awaited event. The President of the country, Kasym-Jomart Tokayev, has instructed to ensure quality education for children. In accordance with this directive, a series of initiatives are underway in the region to address schools in emergency conditions and eliminate three-shift education. Children are our future, and we are committed to doing everything possible to ensure they become more competitive. The success of their education depends on the dedicated teachers working here. I believe that your students will not only be a source of pride for you but also for the entire country”, - noted Akim of Atyrau Oblast Serik Shapkenov.
The new school building, designed for 300 children, features educational blocks for both primary and senior grades. Additionally, it includes a canteen with a capacity of 110 seats, a sports hall with separate showers and changing rooms, a library with a reading room, and fully equipped workshops for 'Technology' classes. The outdoor facilities encompass a football pitch, a running track, a military training ground, and basketball and volleyball courts, allowing for simultaneous outdoor activities. Safe playgrounds are specially equipped for primary school students. Furthermore, the school promotes inclusivity by providing features such as paths for visually impaired children, Braille signage, a dedicated bathroom, and an elevator for students with special needs.
“Education is one of the priorities of TCO’s social programs. We believe that the future belongs to our educated youth. And we strive to contribute to their development”, - said Konilkosh Suyessinov Deputy General Director of Tengizchevroil.
It should be noted that TCO annually allocates $25 million for construction of schools, kindergartens, hospitals and other socially significant facilities in Atyrau Oblast via its voluntary Egilik social infrastructure program. In just 30 years, more than 120 facilities have been built, including 8 schools and 15 kindergartens.
