On November 28, Tengizchevroil (TCO) hosted the 2025 Contractor Health, Environment, and Safety Management (CHESM) Forum for business partners. The company emphasized the importance of joint accountability, transparency, and the adoption of best practices to ensure every employee’s safety and support sustainable business growth.

TCO CHESM Process (Contractor Health, Environment, Safety Management) was implemented to enhance oversight and collaboration with Business Partner companies. The process aims to clearly define roles and responsibilities, ensure active engagement of Business Partners and provide a consistent CHESM program to help eliminate health, environment and safety incidents. Moreover, workplace inspections are carried out for existing Business Partners. The inspections verify compliance with occupational safety requirements under RoK Law and TCO’s internal regulations.

Stephen Conner, Operations General Manager, highlighted the vital role of partnership, integrity, and accountability in realizing TCO’s vision: The CHESM Process is critical to continuously monitoring safety at all TCO facilities where multiple contracting companies are working simultaneously. All risk data on the necessity of process improvement, manual updates and many other aspects are consolidated into a single database to track safety progress.

The forum encouraged everyone to demonstrate six operational discipline behaviors (OD6), fostering ownership, continuous improvement, and the sharing of best practices to strengthen safety and performance. During breakout sessions, leading partners shared innovative approaches, practical solutions, and lessons learned in managing these activities, reaffirming a shared commitment to safety and continuous improvement.

The event underscores that true partnership means embracing common values across companies, countries, and cultures, and provides an opportunity to demonstrate these principles in action through open dialogue and cooperation.
